In London, social media research specialist DigitalMR has appointed Alex Schmidt as a new member of its advisory board.

The firm was founded in 2010 by online specialist Michalis Michael, who previously worked as MD of MASMI, and at RGIS and Synovate. His company - which now has additional offices in Nicosia Cyprus, and Columbus, Ohio in the US - offers a ‘holistic’ consulting approach to web-based MR using social media research, web listening and technology platforms.

DigitalMR’s advisory board provides governance, while overseeing the growth and development of the company. Its members offer experience outside the market research industry, from diverse fields such as law, banking, investment, retail, events, business services, and wines and spirits.

Schmidt is currently Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Polish securities investment firm TRIGON Dom Maklerski, prior to which, he was an SVP, General Counsel and Secretary of pay-TV firm @Entertainment Inc, and Country Director for Poland of investment banking firm MeesPierson. He began his career as an attorney with Warsaw-based law firm Soltysinski, Kawecki & Szlezak, and served as an Assistant Professor at the Business Law Department of A. Mickiewicz University.
