UK-based data science company Black Swan Data has appointed Pam Roberts as Chief People Officer, and Allen Atwell as Chief Technology Officer.

Founded in 2011, Black Swan uses technology and data science to analyse consumer behaviour and build predictive models. The firm is headquartered in London, with additional offices in Exeter, Los Angeles, New York, Cape Town, Budapest and Szeged (Hungary), and employs more than 240 staff. Roberts joins after a spell in New York, where she served as VP Human Resources for eCommerce platform Spring and ran her own HR consultancy. Additionally, she has twelve years senior HR experience in the city, working largely with emerging technology companies and financial services firms including Nomura, Investment Technology Group, hedge fund Man Group, and investment bank WestLB.

Atwell joins from MessageLabs, where he was also CTO. He previously worked in senior roles at Mi-Pay, Third Space Learning and Trader.com, and spent six years at Oracle.com, latterly as SVP EMEA Telecom Consulting. During his career, Atwell has also worked for companies including AT&T Bell Labs, HP and Texas Instruments. He will now oversee the development of Black Swan's data science tools.
