In London, global technology provider First Derivatives has appointed Sean Andany as Head of Data.

The firm's Kx technology is used for high-volume, data-intensive analytics and applications across multiple industries. Andany (pictured) previously served as CDO at Astra Zeneca, where he led the Data Engineering and Data Operations teams, overseeing tech projects using cloud-based machine learning and advanced analytics. Prior to this he spent a number of years at HSBC, latterly as Head of Data in the Retail & Wealth division. He began his career as a developer and worked for a number of the investment banks, including Barclays Capital and Absa Capital.

In his new role, Andany will drive the data services business line, focusing on developing services across data management, engineering and science.
