In Sydney, the Australian Polling Council (APC) has elected founding member Chris Lonergan to the position of Chairperson for a one-year term.

The APC is a joint initiative created by Australia's public opinion research companies, looking to advance the quality and understanding of public opinion polling and related research in Australia. Lonergan (pictured) takes the position of Chairperson with fourteen years' experience of running his own full-service agency, Lonergan Research. He was previously a Director of Galaxy Research, Project Director at Roy Morgan Research, and Field Supervisor at both Newspoll and Solutions Marketing and Research.

He comments: 'I'm honoured to be elected in to such an important position, particularly with a referendum being held next month'.
