In Canada, ResTech firm and social media sampling specialist Potloc has added former Cint exec Richard Thornton to its Board of Directors. He replaces Guillaume Jacquet, who has decided to explore other pursuits, after helping shape Potloc for the past seven years.

Founded in 2013 by Rodolphe Barrere and Louis Delaoustre, Montreal-based Potloc has created social media sampling technology which is used to target respondents worldwide. Thornton (pictured) joins the firm's Board after a career which began with him serving as a Research Analyst at CAP Ventures, before moving to Ciao Surveys, where he was latterly MD, Ciao Surveys GmbH, the European arm of Greenfield Online. He then spent more than twelve years at Cint, most recently serving as Chief Commercial Officer / Deputy CEO.

Thornton also acts as an Operating Partner at Nordic-based seed investment fund J12 Ventures; is Chair of data collection specialist Shepper; Board member of data creation platform Walr; Non-Executive Director (NED) at Relative Insight; NED at Achilles Information; and Board member of Inex One | The Expert Network Marketplace. He also founded advisory services firm Claret & You Consulting, and he is an NED at data validation platform Vypr.

Thornton now joins the Potloc Board, which comprises Marie-Michèle Caron, President at Thryve; and Tony Van Marken, Managing Partner and co-founder at First Ascent Ventures.
