comScore Debuts Online Gamer Profiling Tool

October 14 2009

Online measurement firm comScore has launched an audience targeting tool for gaming publishers and developers, which provides a measurement of users' attitudes, behaviour and lifestyles.

The new GamePlan platform is part of the comScore Plan Metrix product suite, which enables advertisers and publishers to better identify and target consumer segments.

Game publishers and developers can use the tool to understand their target audience, and restructure games to increase their appeal to the right audience. It can also help them identify when they need to allocate advertising and marketing budget.

'comScore GamePlan gives gaming publishers and developers a detailed view of their audiences across a multitude of attitudinal, behavioral and lifestyle attributes,' explained Edward Hunter. Director of Gaming Solutions. 'This enables them to optimize their offerings and better communicate their value proposition to potential advertising partners.'

An analysis of gamers revealed that they are nearly twice as likely as the average Internet user to consume more than 50 video streams per day, and more than 60% more likely than average to consume between 11 to 20 audio streams per day. The firm says such findings can be used to better understand the behavioral profile of gamers and optimize digital marketing and advertising strategies targeted to them.
