CIMM Invites Set-Top Box Data Providers

November 3 2009

The recently formed Coalition for Innovative Media Measurement (CIMM) will be hosting a meeting with Nielsen, Rentrak, TiVo, TRA and TNS to discuss how the firms can work with the coalition to foster set-top box data research innovation.

CIMM was formed in September by a group of 14 content providers, media agencies and advertisers, in order to fund new research into cross-platform and TV set-top box measurement.

At the meeting, CIMM aims to solicit feedback from the organizations - which all currently provide set-top box data - about the RFP (request for proposals) process, and to find out how they would like to work with CIMM in the future.

Last month, the coalition announced it would be inviting agencies to submit proposals for a study to evaluate the audience for set-top-box data, and a cross-platform data study to reflect exposure to specific video sources on TV, the Internet and mobile media.

CIMM also aims to break away from the traditional RFP process of designating one 'winner' among multiple proposals by instead fostering collaborative relationships with various data and technology providers, to help identify and fund multiple projects that meet its criteria.
