SDI Receives Funding, Adds HealthRatings Service

US healthcare market insight firm SDI Health has received funding from private equity firm Tailwind Capital, which it will use to expand the depth of data and services it offers. It has also introduced a new HealthRatings product to measure patient reaction to advertising.

It offers a wide range of market research to its pharma and biotec, medical and surgical device manufacturers and retailers, as well as to consumer packaged goods, federal government, financial institutions and media groups.

CEO Andrew Kress comments: 'Tailwind's expertise and experience in working with growth businesses in the healthcare and business services industries will be invaluable as we continue to broaden our industry coverage.'

The company has also introduced its new HealthRatings product, to enable media and advertising companies to profile the actual healthcare behavior of specific TV, magazine, and online audiences using de-identified patient level data.

For each audience, HealthRatings includes the conditions they suffer from, drugs they take, and treatment compliance. The firm says that this information can be used to target the right audience and create relevant messages.

It includes near real-time healthcare data representing every segment of the US marketplace, including doctor office diagnoses and pharmacy prescriptions. SDI's Media Innovations division uses these metrics to track the audience's changes in healthcare behaviour during and after a media campaign.

'We adapted our processes to effectively target and measure media campaigns since so many pharmaceutical marketers are looking to optimize their spend,' explained Dave Nussbaum, VP of SDI's Media Innovations Division. 'Now, each media company can profile and measure audience behavior according to their clients' standards will have a distinct advantage.'

Last year, SDI acquired pharma information provider Verispan to integrate its own customer patient-level data analytics with Verispan's syndicated patient-level data.
