Kids Newspaper Launches Research Panel

February 15 2010

In the UK, children's newspaper First News has joined forces with research agency Opinion Matters to launch a new panel of 7-14 year olds, First News Research.

First News, formed just over three years ago, boasts the UK's leading weekly newspaper for 7-14 year olds, read by around 763,000 children each week, and has recently launched a new web site. The publication is edited by former BBC Editorial Director, Nicky Cox, MBE and also advised by Piers Morgan.

The new panel will seek the opinions of 7-14 year olds on a series of current topics, and promises a rapid response.

Cox says one of the firm's key aims is to raise the profile of children's views and opinions in society, making the latest launch 'an important partnership'. He adds: '7-14 year olds are often naturally curious about the world in which they and others live, whilst the newspaper itself is passionate about communicating to children on children's issues, so we expect some interesting opportunities to arise'.

Opinion Matters MD Karen Brooks says the service 'will enable youngsters to voice their opinions and be listened to by brands and organizations'.
