GfK Rolls Out Online User Study in France

In France, GfK has partnered with global news agency AFP (Agence France-Presse) to launch the 'Reference E-Content' (REC) monitor, which measures and analyses users' online consumption of books, music, videos, games and software.

REC will monitor online consumption of books, music, videos, games and softwareThe quarterly barometer survey is conducted among 1,000 French Internet users aged 15 to 65, to gain insight about their online media habits. The survey aims to discover what kind of news is most viewed by surfers 'on the move', and from what French web sites users download music.

Results of the first wave show that French Internet users prefer to access social media and watch videos via a computer screen. Around 93% of people use blogs, forums and other social networking or content sharing web sites from their PC, while just 5% use their mobile phone, and 1% their tablet.

Other results include the finding that the most common type of free content is TV shows, and that Internet users pay for only 28% of the e-books they read.
