In the US, online targeting firm DataLogix has appointed former GroupM Managing Partner David Sommer as General Manager of its Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) arm.DataLogix - which has offices in Westminster, CO and New York City - operates an audience and measurement platform which is powered by a database covering over $1 trillion dollars in consumer spending behavior.
Last year, the firm partnered with automotive research specialist RL Polk & Co, to enable auto companies and dealers to address online audiences based on their real-world purchasing behavior.
Sommer has a background of partnering with CPG manufacturers and retailers to develop integrated marketing plans and digital marketing efforts. Before joining, he founded and was CEO of Retail Media Link, a shopper media planning, buying and measurement business which he sold to WPP in 2006: he then led the resulting GroupM Retail and Shopper Marketing Practice as Managing Partner. Earlier in his career, he led Young & Rubicam's CPG practice, and held senior roles at ABC Radio Networks and Colgate-Palmolive.
In his new position, Sommer oversees product development, operations, marketing and sales for all Datalogix's CPG and CPG Retail business.
'We now do business with over one-third of the country's top ten CPG manufacturers and retailers, and we expect this trend to accelerate in 2011,' explains DataLogix President, Eric Roza. 'We are thrilled to have an executive of Dave's caliber quarterbacking our efforts.'
