Media Square's Bruce Winfield Dies

The Board of Media Square plc has announced the death of its COO and Finance Director, Bruce Winfield, also known as the architect of Crawley Town's recent footballing rise. He died late on the 21st March at St Catherine's Hospice after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Bruce WinfieldIn a statement the Board of Media Square - which owns global research firm Illuminas - said Winfield worked tirelessly for the Group and was extremely well liked and admired. An announcement regarding any succession arrangements will follow 'in due course'.

Group CEO Peter Reid commented: 'This is a very sad loss. Bruce was a unique character and everyone who came into contact with him had nothing but warmth and respect for him. He will be deeply missed by all at MSQ and beyond.'

Winfield lived long enough to see his beloved Crawley Town become the first non-league team for seventeen years to reach the last sixteen of the FA Cup, losing narrowly to Manchester United at Old Trafford a month ago. The Club said in a statement: 'Everyone at Crawley Town Football Club is devastated by this sad news.'

A qualified accountant, Winfield spent thirty years in management with a number of multinational companies including British Airways, ACT and Havas Advertising. He also floated and sold a computer graphics company to ACT, for whom he subsequently worked as Financial Director and later Divisional CEO.
