In the Middle East, GfK has promoted Praveen Madawala to the post of CEO, leading the Custom Research business across the region.
Last year, GfK became the first foreign market research company to be granted a license to open a subsidiary in Saudi Arabia, and the division now offers ad hoc research conducted through local partners from its headquarters in Dubai.
Madawala joined GfK in 2009 as Executive Director, prior to which he served as Country Manager at TNS in Sri Lanka. He began his career with Ceylon Tobacco (BAT), where he eventually led the market research unit.
Ranabir Sen, MD of GfK Middle East for both Dubai and Saudi Arabia says the appointment demonstrates the firm's commitment to 'aggressive' growth in the region. He adds: 'It's time for bigger things for Praveen. With his acumen and experience, we are sure he will steer GfK Middle East into the newer challenges of tomorrow'.
