Gartner Revenue and Net Income Jump

US technology researcher Gartner has reported a 16% revenue increase to $365.5m for the second quarter of 2011, while net income has leapt 60% to $32.2m, compared with Q2 2010.

The firm's Research business saw revenue climb 20% year-on-year to $250.0m, while in the Consulting division, revenue grew much more slowly - up 3% to $750.0m. In the smaller Events arm, revenue was up 28% to $37.6m.

In the second quarter, research contract value reached $1.0 billion dollars for the first time, following an increase of 15% year-on-year.

CEO Gene Hall says the result continue the firm's trend of consistent double digit growth in both revenue and earnings, and points out that the growth rate in contract value was 'the fastest since early 2007'.
