October 23 2012

Ipsos MORI and King's College London are to bring together some of their researchers to develop new studies and maximise learnings from existing research.

Sir Rick TrainorThrough the partnership, Ipsos MORI's archive of political and social attitudes data, along with new research, will be made available to academics across a wide range of disciplines at King's, and senior staff at both institutions will work together to interpret and analyse the results.

Additionally, teams from both organisations will collaborate to develop new policy and social research studies in complementary areas such as welfare, health, defence and the political process.

Three Ipsos MORI staff members have taken up posts at King's:

  • Dr Roger Mortimore is on a part-time secondment as Professor of Public Opinion and Political Analysis in the Institute of Contemporary British History (ICBH)
  • Sir Robert Worcester, the founder of MORI, has been appointed a Visiting Professor based in the Institute of Contemporary British History (ICBH)
  • Bobby Duffy is a Visiting Senior Fellow based in the School of Social Science & Public Policy.
Together with CEO Ben Page, they will form part of a management board drawn from both organisations, which will oversee the partnership's work.

Professor Sir Rick Trainor (pictured), Principal of King's, said: 'King's College London is very pleased to be working with Ipsos MORI. I look forward to the partnership generating a great deal of research which will be academically excellent and of interest to a wide range of people outside as well as within academic life.'

The two organisations will communicate their findings through a series of events, including lectures, seminars and round-table discussions with senior policy-makers. The first of these will be a panel discussion and debate on The Queen and The Monarchy to be held towards the end of next month.
