IDC has appointed former Microsoft exec Shayum Rahim as its senior analyst and lead for software research across Australia and New Zealand, based in Sydney.
At Microsoft, Rahim was a business development manager for the Dynamics, Microsoft SQL Server and Business Intelligence platforms. Before this he worked at Oracle where he managed business development for database and middleware products as well as enterprise applications.
In addition to leading the firm's analysis of the Australian and New Zealand software industry, Shayum will head IDC's Big Data and Enterprise Application Software practices.
IDC Australia's Head of Research Matt Oostveen comments: 'Shayum brings years of software industry experience to the role. His background coupled with exposure to many aspects of the industry gives him a unique perspective and IDC is very excited to have him aboard.'
