Ipsos Rolls Out Molecular Diagnostics Monitor in Europe

June 17 2013

Ipsos Healthcare has launched its Molecular Diagnostics (MDx) Monitor in Europe. The service, gathers data from a wide range of stakeholders including drug-treating physicians and pathologists, will begin with coverage of oncology and be rolled out to other therapy areas.

Pieter De RichterThe MDx Monitor has been running in the USA since August 2012 and data collection in Europe began in March, with the first wave of data released this month. It promises subscribers 'a complete understanding of the trends, drivers and barriers within the molecular diagnostics landscape, along with their impact on diagnosis, management and treatment.'

The agency's suite of Global Therapy Monitors track usage of treatments across more than twenty disease areas, including Oncology, Metabolics, Virology, Autoimmune and Cardiovascular, and draw on 4000 physicians reporting on 200,000 patients in 35 markets worldwide.

MDx combines actual patient and test level data with perceptual data, including respondent awareness of and attitudes towards current and future MDx and CDx tests, allowing for comparison of the two, and provides insights on the decision-making process, logistics, barriers to testing, market shares, requirements for reimbursement and uptake of new methodologies, among others.

Pieter De Richter (pictured), Vice President of Global Therapy Monitors, comments: 'The US MDx Monitors have enabled pharmaceutical companies and MDx test manufacturers to understand and respond to the numerous complex trends observed in the US MDx/CDx market. Given the regulatory differences and the heterogeneity of the EU markets, the availability of this data in 5EU represents a crucial new tool for companies with marketed and pipeline products in Europe.'
