Australia's September Stats Saved by Nielsen Offer

September 2 2013

Nielsen has struck a last-minute deal with the Audited Media Association of Australia to ensure publishers and advertisers do not face a month without audited circulation statistics, according to reports.

According to Australian media news site www.mumbrella.com.au , Nielsen has agreed to continue with its service for one last month. It decided in May that it would not participate in a tender put out by the AMAA after the association opted to move away from using the research giant as a single source for metrics, and seek several partners for a range of different measures.

AMAA, formed by the merger of the Audit Bureau of Circulations and the Circulation Audits Bureau, wrote to members saying that the RFP was 'progressing very well' but there would be 'a break from reporting' for this month with no stats from either source. Nielsen then stepped in last week to fill the gap in reporting.

According to Mumbrella, the pitch is now down to two players, with speculation that these are Effective Measure and comScore.
