Pinterest Analytics Update Offers New Pinner Data

August 28 2014

In the US, image-based social media site Pinterest has updated its analytics tool, to provide businesses with additional insights about their customers' interests.

Jason CostaPinterest Analytics, which was initially launched last year, can now help companies determine what people like most about their Pinterest profile and web site, and how much traffic their site generates when they add the 'Pin It' button. In addition, the tool offers new metrics to enable users to explore how people engage with their business, see their audience's most common interests, and then tailor Pins based on this information.

As well as measuring how many impressions, repins and 'click on Pins' a business generates, the free tool provides aggregate details about unique viewers including age, gender, language and location demographics. Offered in 31 languages, the tool can also enable users to understand how paid Pins perform against organic ones, and highlight which categories and topics an audience has shown interest in, and which other Pinterest accounts they follow.

Product Manager Jason Costa (pictured) comments: 'We've received lots of great feedback about our analytics tool and we hope this new version helps companies improve how they do business - whether it's updating product offerings after seeing what's popular on Pinterest or changing how they Pin based on what's trending with Pinners.'
