NBCU Exec Jeff Bader Adds Chief Research Officer Title

In the US, media conglomerate NBCUniversal has promoted Jeff Bader to the position of Chief Research Officer, expanding his existing role to include oversight of the firm's television portfolio and leading its new Corporate Research and Strategy group.

Bader (pictured) will retain his current title and role as President of Program Planning, Strategy and Research for NBC Entertainment, reporting to NBC Entertainment co-chairmen Paul Telegdy and George Cheeks. He will continue to oversee long and short term program planning for NBC primetime, daytime, late night and the NBC Entertainment scheduling department, while supervising the windowing strategy for primetime and late night programming across all NBCU platforms. In addition, he will now provide oversight of the NBC Entertainment Research group. Before joining the company in 2012, Bader spent 24 years at ABC Television, latterly as EVP, Program Planning, Scheduling and Distribution; having previously served as Manager, Research at MTM Distribution.

The new group will invest in new measurement approaches and analytic tools, with the aim of developing unified cross-platform measurement; and will provide enterprise-wide research resource coordination, bringing in unified practices across the portfolio. It will be run by Lisa Heimann, who has been promoted to the role of EVP, Corporate Research and Strategy, reporting to Bader. Heimann most recently served as SVP, Multiplatform Research for NBC Entertainment where she worked with the Research team to ensure consistent metric standards across all platforms and collaborated across departments to help identify multiplatform trends. She joined the company two years ago after more than seventeen at Disney ABC Television Group, where she latterly served as VP, ABC/ABC Studios Multiplatform Research.
