May 18 2020

Global consulting group Accenture has acquired Ahmedabad, India-based Byte Prophecy, described as an automated insights and big data analytics company, for an undisclosed sum. The buy adds nearly 50 data science and data engineering staff to its Applied Intelligence division.

Mrugank ParikhByte Prophecy was founded in 2011 and is led by Mrugank Parikh, Adityavijay Rathore, Darshit Shah and Manish Patil. Its MonitorFirst solution helps visualize data; delivers 'automated insights' via an AI-driven decision-making platform for metrics/KPIs; and helps optimise planning for clients in retail, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals and financial services. The firms have worked together on advanced data and analytics projects in Asia Pacific for two years.

Accentrue says the buy will help meet the growing demand for enterprise-scale AI and digital analytics solutions across the region, and will deepen existing consulting and technology capabilities for clients in areas such as data foundations and advanced analytics.

Athina Kanioura, Accenture's Chief Analytics Officer and global lead for Applied Intelligence, says the partner firms have already 'helped clients build the strong data foundations that are the cornerstone for successful AI adoption', adding: 'Officially making Byte Prophecy's people and capabilities part of Accenture is a testament to the shared vision of shared success we've seen in our joint efforts'. Byte's Parikh (pictured) comments: 'Our experience working with Accenture has helped us better understand customer pain points and fine-tune our solution to respond with greater agility to clients' needs. The opportunity to become part of Accenture Applied Intelligence will enable us to jointly build stronger assets and expand our services to more clients in the emerging markets'.

Accenture invested nearly US$1.2bn globally on 33 acquisitions in its fiscal year 2019, including analytics firms Knowledgent and Kogentix, while Applied Intelligence bought Pragsis Bidoop in Spain, Analytics8 in Australia and Chicago-based data consultancy Clarity Insights.
