Measure Protocol's Retro Boldly Goes...

November 17 2020

Measure Protocol, a blockchain marketplace for person-based data, has launched a tool called Retro, which uses proprietary methodology to gather consumer data which the firm says has previously been almost impossible to access.

Owen HanksMeasure Protocol pays consumers using its mobile app to complete surveys and to connect data sources such as health and location data from their device, and purchase history from their online store accounts. Brands, researchers and agencies can then use the firm's web interface to browse and target specific populations of consumers; with blockchain technology ensuring privacy and providing transparency both for those who request and use data, and individuals who provide it.

The company's new Retro solution aims to pay consumers fairly for their data, delivering insights into app usage metrics, device behavior and media consumption - all within a private, permission-based environment. Measure Protocol says brands can use the solution, which works for both iOS and Android devices, to collect in app environments not previously available through other technologies. According to the firm, historically, this type of data has been very expensive and difficult to collect because of cumbersome experiences, a general distrust of companies collecting it, and the lack of adequate compensation.

CEO Owen Hanks (pictured) comments: 'We relentlessly pursue quality, which we believe can only be achieved in an ecosystem built on trust, transparency and accountability. Our technology is ground-breaking in that it allows consumers to be in control of their own data asset, and ensures they are always aware of what data is being collected. Our latest research-on-research shows clearly that this model, alongside fair compensation for sharing, has been shown to equal higher quality metrics'.
