$43m for Unstructured Data Analyst Zilliz

AI-powered unstructured data analyst Zilliz has raised $43m in a Series B round of funding, which it will use for international workforce expansion, advance development of enterprise-grade cloud services, and to drive global adoption of its technology.

Charles XieWith offices in the US and China, Zilliz specializes in the development of open-source, AI-powered unstructured data analysis software. The firm is also the initiator of open-source similarity search engine Milvus, designed to help companies understand and explore massive amounts of data in formats including images, videos and voices.

New funding has been led by Hillhouse Capital, with participation from TrustBridge Capital, Pavillion Capital, 5Y Capital, and Yunqi Partners, and brings the total raised to date to more than $53m. Zilliz founder and CEO Charles Xie (pictured) comments: 'As digital transformation accelerates, unlocking the value of unstructured data will become progressively more essential. Our overarching goal at Zilliz is to utilize technology like heterogeneous computing and artificial intelligence to give people access to previously inaccessible insights'.
