MRBA Makes Financial Pandemic Support Offer

January 12 2021

UK industry charity the Market Research Benevolent Association (MRBA) has issued a statement reminding those suffering from financial difficulties or other personal problems as a result of the pandemic and the new lockdown, that it is able to provide support.

MRBA offers financial supportThe MRBA is funded by donations from across the market research sector, and since 1977 has provided financial support and advice to UK-based workers and former workers in any aspect of market research. Last year, the charity issued a statement reminding employers that it was able to help during the Covid-19 crisis, including in cases where the industry's casual workers get into severe financial hardship due to the impact of the virus.

In a survey conducted by Watermelon in August, it was found that 76% of research business had experienced a decline in revenue as a result of the pandemic. MRBA says it can help people struggling because of redundancies and pay cuts by providing financial support to anyone who has worked in the market research industry for at least two years. This includes support for those who cannot pay their rent and are facing eviction, or those who cannot pay for food or utility bills. MRBA can cover bills in the short-term, may award longer-term grants which do not need to be repaid, or provide interest-free loans with realistic repayment terms. For urgent situations, MRBA can also fast-track cases and provide updates within a matter of days.

In a statement, the charity said: 'The pandemic and the new lockdown have thrown a lot of us into unknown and worrying territory, and it is normal to be feeling concerned as we enter 2021. If you're unsure on where to turn to for help, start with reaching out to us. We care, and we're here to help'.

To apply for support, please e-mail a member of MRBA's support team at info@mrba.org.uk .
