IRI Acquires Shopper Insights Provider ISS

In the US, consumer data giant IRI has acquired retail insight provider Intelligence Shopper Solutions (ISS) from Canadian platform Kognitiv Corporation. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

ISS became part of Kognitiv following the combination of Aimia's Loyalty Solutions business with Kognitiv in 2020. Specifically designed for grocery, convenience and health and beauty clients, the ISS platform processes sales and loyalty program data from retailers, and enables users to review performance and generate insights that inform merchandising and marketing decisions. ISS also offers a proprietary tool for segmentation based on shopping behavior.

Initially, ISS will operate as a stand-alone subsidiary of IRI. Additionally, IRI is partnering with Kognitive to enable its retailer clients to use Kognitiv's platform to deliver hyper-personalized consumer experiences. Andrew Appel, President and CEO of IRI (pictured right), says the deal expands IRI's platform to provide CPG clients with 'a more complete view of consumer shopping habits across even more leading retailers'.
