Thornton Leaves Cint for Time Off

April 19 2021

Long-time Cint executive Richard Thornton has departed from the company for some 'planned time off with the family'.

Richard ThorntonThornton worked for panels pioneer Ciao Surveys from 2003 to 2009, helping to establish operations in Sydney and then working as its European Sales head and European MD, before leaving to join Cint in a new UK MD position. In the next dozen years, he moved through the roles of Global Sales Director, Global Commercial Director, Global Sales and Operations Director, Deputy CEO, COO and Chief Commercial Officer, while the company grew from EUR 4m to EUR 100m in revenue, and from 30 to 400 employees. In February it achieved a billion dollar listing on the Nasdaq Stockholm.

In a post on LinkedIn last week, Thornton wrote: 'Today is a bittersweet one for me... after 12 years helping scale and grow what has become a really special company and market leader, I am officially saying goodbye to Cint but 'hello' to some planned time off with the family.

'It has been an incredible journey, going, globalising the offering, working with innovative and inspiring clients, customers and partners, accomplishing many industry 'first's' together and culminating in the IPO and 'unicorn' valuation'.

Cint founder and former CEO Bo Mattsson, currently a Founding Partner at J12 Ventures & co-founder of Hubert.ai, said in a LinkedIn reply: 'Rich, rarely has someone been so extremely instrumental in the success of any human endeavour as you have been when it comes to Cint. Put bluntly, we would have been nowhere without you'.

Thornton, who in February joined the Board of Manchester, UK-based consumer insights business Vypr said that he remains 'an avid follower and shareholder' at Cint, and thanked staff there for 'affirming my belief that companies are always about the people. Always.'
