Lisbon's 'Other Big Event' – The ESOMAR Congress

ESOMAR will be hosting its 57th Annual Congress on September 19-22 in Lisbon, with the core theme 'The Integration of Marketing Research in the Business World: from managing data to generating decisions'. More than 1000 people from 70 countries are due to attend.
Keynote speakers include:
- Professor Peter Lorange, President of IMD (International Institute for Management Strategy Development) and 'The Nestlé Professor of Strategy'
- Tony Wright, Senior Partner, Chief Planning & Strategy Officer, North America at Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide
- Professor Henry Chesbrough, Executive Director of the Center for Technology Management at the Haas School of Business, University of California - one of Scientific American's Top 50 Business and Technology Leaders.
- Fredrik Nauckhoff, President of ESOMAR and of Market Intelligence at Nestlé, who will open The Congress
The keynote speakers will offer their views on different aspects of business from value creation (Lorange), to brands and consumers relationships (Wright), the new paradigm of open innovation (Chesbrough), and trends and requirements for the market research industry in the next decade (Nauckhoff).
According to Jorge Garcia-Gonzalez, Chairman of the Programme Committee, 'the only way that our industry will reach its potential is to take into account that our raison d'être and the ultimate goal of our business is to increase shareholder value. Market research is a cornerstone to this new thinking as it has the unique advantage of being able to identify the opportunities for growth and new differential competitive advantages, without which companies will not survive very long'.
