Strong Third Quarter for Gartner

November 2 2021

Tech consultancy Gartner has announced results for the third quarter of 2021, with revenues up 15.0% at constant currency to $1.16bn, and EBITDA of $305m, up 79.9% on the same basis.

Gene HallThe growth comes despite relatively strong comparatives. A year ago, Gartner managed respectable results amidst the pandemic slowdown and its inevitable impact on the group's Conferences division - overall revenue was down just 1% at $995m, and adjusted EBITDA up 19.4% to $168m. The Research division, which accounts for almost 90% of the company's sales, saw revenue up 5.8% to $893m.

In this week's results, the Research division grew 14.8%, to $1.037bn, while Conferences rebounded to $24m, nearly doubling year-on-year, and Consulting rose 5.7% to $95m.

CEO Gene Hall said: 'Our strong growth in contract value, revenue, EBITDA, and free cash flow continued in the third quarter. We repurchased more than $1.4 billion of stock year-to-date and remain committed to returning excess capital to shareholders. We are again raising our guidance to reflect the momentum we have seen through the first three quarters of the year'.
