Medallia Buys Fields Healthcare Research

US-based customer experience management specialist Medallia has acquired patient experience specialist Fields Healthcare Research, for an undisclosed sum.

Ken FieldsLaunched by Donna Fields in 1973, Fields Healthcare Research is a CMS-approved CAHPS data collection company (respectively, 'Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' and 'Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems'). The firm captures both real-time signals and CAHPS experience feedback.

Following the buy, Fields will be run as a subsidiary of Medallia and continue as an authorized CAHPS vendor, led by its company President, Donna's son Ken Fields (pictured). Medallia, recently approved by CMS as a vendor to administer HCAHPS (Hospital CAHPS) surveys, says the buy will allow the healthcare industry to combine Medallia's real-time signal capture capabilities with Fields' survey portfolio and AHPS experience of administering patient surveys.

Julie Classen, Medallia's MSN, RN, Director, Regulatory and Clinical Programs, adds: 'This significant milestone aligns with Medallia's vision for holistically capturing patient feedback across the care continuum, while satisfying important regulatory requirements. This will allow Medallia to rapidly accelerate our healthcare footprint, providing a more seamless solution for our customers to capture leading and lagging signals across their patients' journey'.
