BI App Zing Data Gets Seed Investment

July 1 2022

In the US, business intelligence (BI) and visualization app Zing Data has raised $2.4m in a seed investment round, which it will use to continue building its platform empowering 'data users on the go'.

The Zing Data appZing is free to use on iOS, Android and the web for the first ten users at a company. The app can be used to query databases and generate charts, run terabyte-scale queries, and collaborate on items from analysis or research; and according to the firm helps reduce the 40% of a BI team's time which is currently spent on simple ad hoc questions.

The company was founded last year by Zack Hendlin and Sabin Thomas, who met a decade ago in grad school at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

New funding was led by Kindred Ventures, with participation from Correlation Ventures, and several early backers. Kanyi Maqubela, Managing Partner at Kindred Ventures, comments: 'Without data scientists, companies lack the toolkit to process and understand their data in context: until Zing. The mobile form factor, simple collaboration, and easy-to-understand tools are best in class. And this technical team has experience as builders and users of business intelligence software, so understand the customer need deeply'.
