Informa Buys Market Trends

September 3 2004

Informa Research Services, Inc., a financial MR and decision support specialist based in Calabasas, California, has this week announced the acquisition of research and statistical services agency Market Trends, Inc., giving it access to a broader range of sector expertise.

Market Trends works in telecommunications, consumer goods, business-to-business, financial, and technology markets and was established more than 20 years ago. It also has a separate field and tab department in its Seattle and Bellevue, Washington, offices with state-of-the-art focus group rooms and other facilities. Informa, who last year bought Barry Leeds & Associates, Inc., will now brand all three companies under its own name.

According to Michael E. Adler, President and MD of Informa Research Services, Inc., Informa will utilise extensive industry expertise of Market Trends management and staff to expand its market research services outside the financial industry: 'I have a great deal of respect for the company and its employees. Both companies enjoy excellent reputations in the industries we serve and this acquisition will combine the best of both of our companies while allowing us to build a broader and stronger market research company'.

Market Trends founder and President Bill Young points out that 'Although the Market Trends name is changing, the people are not. Informa is committed to retaining the staff and investing in the infrastructure'. Young will be a Senior Vice President at Informa, and continue to lead the same team of professionals at the Seattle office.

Informa's web site is at www.informars.com and Market Trends' at www.markettrends.com
