Ipsos Canada CEO Gary Bennewies to Retire

August 25 2022

Gary Bennewies, CEO of Ipsos Canada, has announced his retirement after nearly four decades with the company. From September 1st Cynthia Pachovski, President, Market Strategy and Understanding (MSU) for Canada, will replace Bennewies on an interim basis while a new CEO is selected.

Gary BennewiesBennewies (pictured) joined consumer research agency Angus Reid Group in 1985 and helped the business become the largest research firm in Canada, before it was sold to Ipsos in 2000 - it then became known as Ipsos-Reid. He twice served as Country Manager for Canada, and in between as Ipsos' Chief Talent Officer. During his time with the business, he also contributed to the integration of Ipsos Reid, NPD, Tandemar, Camelford Graham and other companies, which collectively created what is now Ipsos in Canada. Additionally, during his career, Bennewies also chaired the Canadian Research Insights Council.

Pachovski will fill the interim role while continuing in her current MSU position. Prior to re-joining Ipsos two years ago, she led the Nielsen Consumer Insights and Nielsen Media Digital Divisions in Canada, before which she was General Manager for Ipsos France and the French overseas territories.

Ipsos North America CEO Lorenzo Larini comments: 'We are grateful to Gary for his many contributions to Ipsos over the past four decades and wish him an exciting journey in this next life chapter of retirement. We are also pleased to have Cynthia supporting us in the role of interim CEO of Canada, while we conduct a formal search for the new CEO. I am extremely confident about the continued success of the Canadian team under Cynthia's competent, compassionate and agile leadership'.
