Media Intelligence Firm Truescope Buys Competitor UIS

January 31 2023

Australian media intelligence company Truescope has acquired US-based competitor Universal Information Services (UIS), for an undisclosed sum.

Todd MurphyOmaha, Nebraska-based UIS, which was previously led by father and son Jim and Todd Murphy, offers TV and radio monitoring, web and social media tracking services, and PR measurement reports. Jim Murphy bought the company in 1960, and served as CEO until Todd acquired it and took over as CEO in 2015.

The firm is now part of Truescope, which was set up in 2020 by John Croll, former CEO of media monitoring firm Isentia, and his ex-colleague Michael Bade. Truescope now has operations in Singapore, New Zealand and North America. Following the departure of Meg Crumbine late last year, Todd Murphy (pictured) will take on the role of Truescope President, North America, with his first priority being to oversee the UIS integration.

Croll comments: 'Truescope has been active in the US for almost a year and the response we have had to our platform has been overwhelmingly positive. Todd's leadership, the Universal team's decades long local expertise and loyal client base, coupled with Truescope's technology, will enable us to deliver a powerful and truly unparalleled service that will help better inform communications'.
