Strong Year for Ipsos with 5.6% Organic Growth

February 16 2023

Ipsos has reported 2022 annual revenue up 12% to EUR 2.4 bn, representing organic growth of 5.6%. In the final quarter of the year, the business grew by 8.8%, including nearly 4% organic growth.

Strong year for IpsosThe firm says this 'solid growth' came despite a macroeconomic and geopolitical context made difficult by the war in Ukraine, the Chinese government's zero Covid policy, strong inflationary pressures in many regions, and the resulting tightening of monetary policies. Excluding the temporary net impact of Covid-related contracts, underlying organic growth was 8%.

By region, EMEA activity remained 'stable', growing more than 4% in 2022, while Italy and France in particular recorded 'good results'. The firm's best performance was recorded in the Americas, with double-digit growth in North and Latin America, while Asia Pacific posted organic growth of 9%.

Ipsos' consumer insight business topped the table with 11% organic growth, while the client and employee audience also performed well with organic growth of 6.5%. Whereas the 'citizens' business declined, this reflected the ending of Covid contracts and would otherwise have recorded double-digit growth. Research among doctors and patients grew organically by 6%.

In a statement, the company said: 'After a solid year in 2022 and a record level of profitability, we are confident in our ability to deliver the financial targets announced in our strategic plan last June: EUR 3 bn in revenue by 2025 (including acquisitions) with organic growth of 5-7% on average per year over 2022-2025, and an operating margin above 13% by the end of the period and 15% over the long term. In all, we anticipate organic growth of around 5% and an operating margin of around 13% this year'.
