ESOMAR CEO to Depart

May 19 2023

Global trade association ESOMAR is to lose the services of CEO Parves Khan, who has announced she will leave at the end of June, and will focus on charitable and non-exec work before taking up a new as-yet unannounced role. She will also join a new ESOMAR AI Taskforce.

Dr Parves KhanDr Khan took a combined DG and CEO role at the MR and analytics professional organization last July. The roles have since been split, with long-time Council member and former President Joaquim Bretcha currently in an interim Director General role. Recently elected ESOMAR President Ray Poynter says Dr Khan has brought 'strong leadership... fresh perspectives, and something quite new to the ESOMAR mix', adding 'I am really looking forward to working with Parves on the topic of AI'.

The new AI Taskforce will be led by Poynter and is charged with 'tackling the urgent and important issue of AI, insights and society'.

Dr Khan, who says she 'will particularly miss working with the [ESOMAR] team' but is 'honored by the invite to be part of the AI taskforce', is also due to publish a book, The Power of Women: Stop blocking and start empowering women at work, next year, and was recently selected as one of the UN Commission's UK delegates on the Status of Women. Her charitable and non-exec roles support early stage ventures in the area of gender equity, data and tech.
