Nexxt Intelligence | inca Expands inca SmartProbe API

June 5 2023

Conversational AI company Nexxt Intelligence | inca, has updated its inca SmartProbe API to cover twenty languages. The firm has also launched inca SmartProbe Professional with targeted and trained probing capabilities.

Phil SutcliffeSmartProbe uses AI technology to generate 'intelligently probing' follow-on questions, based on survey participants' responses to open-ended questions. The solution is built on top of large language model technology, but adapted for the survey sector by a team of market researchers and natural language processing specialists.

As part of the expansion, the company has added features to allow users to enter information about the question objectives to 'fine-tune' the probing relevance, and a 'demerit' score for each open-ended response. This 'demerit' score is designed to provide an evaluation of the quality and relevance of each open-ended response, and can be combined with other metrics to provide a live quality screener for surveys.

In addition, inca SmartProbe Professional offers targeted probing, to enable researchers to specify target words or terms of interest and trigger actions, for example to ask a specific probe when a target is or isn't mentioned. Trained probing can be used to steer the probing in a particular direction, for example to use a more informal personality or to present counterarguments to participants.

Phil Sutcliffe (pictured), Managing Partner, comments: 'We're delighted to add these new customizable capabilities to inca SmartProbe. They lead to much deeper insight from quantitative research so there is no longer an excuse for poor quality open-ended responses from surveys'.
