November 16 2023

In Canada, AI-driven medical knowledge platform Pathway has raised $5m in seed funding, which it will use to continue to improve its technology.

Jonathan HershonPathway distils practice guidance from millions of evidence-based sources into summaries, with the aim of helping clinicians stay updated and make better decisions for their patients. The firm has its own community of more than 35,000 registered healthcare professionals, and combines Large Language Models with its own database of physician-vetted data, to provide clinicians with actionable answers in a few seconds. Additionally, the company is unveiling a limited beta version of Pathway AI, an AI assistant and search designed to help clinicians with nuanced medical queries.

Seed funding was led by Yamaha Motor Ventures and Verge HealthTech Fund, with participation from existing investors Amplify Capital, BoxOne Ventures and Formentera Capital. The round is also backed by several unnamed physicians. Pathway CEO Jonathan Hershon (pictured) says the firm is 'quickly establishing itself as the go-to resource for healthcare professionals who need fast, evidence-based answers to their everyday questions'. He adds: 'We and our investors share a vision to transform how medical knowledge is organized and delivered through the power of AI. This funding will accelerate the rollout of Pathway's technology and amplify our reach to clinicians globally'.
