Gracenote Launches Nexus Auto Data Platform

Nielsen-owned entertainment data business Gracenote is launching an automotive data platform, giving easy access to its entertainment datasets for manufacturers looking to optimise in-car media experiences.

The business provides entertainment metadata, connected IDs and related services powering advanced content navigation and discovery capabilities linking consumers to their favorite TV shows, movies, music, podcasts and sports - and uses the data from this for content analytics to help business partners.

The new service, Gracenote Nexus Auto, works with Android Automotive OS (AAOS) and other major auto operating systems, and the firm says it will allow vehicle makers to simplify integration with their infotainment offerings, reduce development time and deliver content-first interfaces for consumers. The platform delivers the company's metadata for radio stations, streaming music, podcasts, sports, TV shows and movies to infotainment systems via connected APIs, allowing users to create branded, customizable in-car entertainment experiences for a broad range of vehicle types. For example consumers in-car can access music services and video streaming platforms; and receive personalized recommendations based on content preferences, user activity and other contextual signals.
