$20m for BI Firm Omni

Business Intelligence platform Omni has raised $20m for continued development of its platform. In addition, former Looker Chief Revenue Officer Lambert Billet has joined Omni's Board of Directors.

Omni helps client firms increase access to data, reduce software costs (when compared with other BI options) and save technical resources - it reports an '80% reduction in questions to the data team' after implementation. The company rolled out commercially last February, one year after being founded, and late in 2023 launched a second core product, embedded analytics, making it easier for companies to add data into their product. This month it added Calculations AI, which uses an LLM to inject spreadsheet-style formulas directly into Omni tables.

Billet's experience includes ten years growing enterprise software solutions for companies including Oracle and HP, and another ten as CRO at Looker. Jamie Davidson, Omni co-founder and President, comments: 'We've seen Lambert's exceptional track record and ability to build and lead high-performing teams firsthand, so we know he'll be a great addition to our board as we embark on this next phase of growth'.

Tomasz Tunguz, founder of Theory Ventures who made the latest investment, explains the move: 'Omni picked up where Looker left off. Based on the team's experience helping thousands of companies with their data over the last decade, Omni is addressing a lot of the gaps left by previous generations of BI - and bringing a lot of new features to the table. Just two years in, it's remarkable to see how they're bringing about the next generation of data by bringing more users under the tent'.
