Honour for GfK Leader

March 4 2005

Gfk Group CEO Dr. Klaus L. Wübbenhorst has been appointed an honorary professor of business economics at the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.

The appointment, to the Faculty of Business Economics and Social Sciences, was confirmed in an inaugural ceremony yesterday by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Dr. Karl-Dieter Grüske.

Wübbenhorst will be delivering his first lecture in this new role, which will be open to the public, in the summer. He has played an active role in teaching for a decade now, regularly giving lectures and guest talks at the Faculty of Business Economics and Social Sciences of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, and continually emphasizing the need to combine economic theory with the practical aspects of corporate planning and decision-making.

He has lectured previously at various of the university's faculties, on international management and services management; and has held a teaching post at the Marketing Faculty since 2002/03, lecturing on market research. GfK-Nürnberg e.V. is a financial supporter of the University's Market Information Management course.

Prof Wübbenhorst graduated from the University/Technical University in Essen in 1981 and completed his doctorate at the Technical University in Darmstadt in 1984. He worked at Bertelsmann AG in Gütersloh and then in Austria before becoming a member of the Management Board of KBA-Planeta AG in Radebeul near Dresden. He moved to GfK in 1992 as CFO and was appointed CEO in 1999, the year of GfK AG's IPO. He has also been prominent in the ADM Arbeitskreis Deutscher Markt- und Sozialforschungsinstitute e.V., the working group of German market and social research organizations) since 1997 and has been its Chairman since 2002.
