London-based insights and CX consultancy Watermelon has appointed former Qualtrics researcher Sam Burgess as Managing Director of its Sydney office.Watermelon specialises in tech-driven CX solutions, customer feedback programs and evidence-based consultancy, and in June launched a proprietary Voice of the Customer platform, Canvas. Two years ago the firm, which is owned by ad and communications agency VCCP, launched its own technology-focused operations agency called Calico, serving the operational needs of other insight companies.
Burgess joins from Qualtrics, where he headed up the Research Services Advisory team for the Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) region; and earlier held director level roles at Ipsos CX and Nielsen IQ. In his new role he will oversee the company's operations, growth strategy and client relationships across the region.
CEO Mark Squires says the hire signals the firm's commitment to expanding its presence in Australia, and comments, 'We've been operating in Australia since 2015, delivering large-scale VoC programmes across the banking and FMCG sectors, and bringing Sam on board will be instrumental in helping to drive the next phase of our growth.'
