Circana Bows Rapid Shelf Data Solution

September 10 2025

Global consumer data specialist Circana has launched a solution called Store Audit, promising retailers and manufacturers 'faster, more precise insights' into shelf execution and store conditions.

Patty AltmanGlobal consumer data firms IRI and The NPD Group merged in 2022 and the combined company was renamed Circana not long after. The company's core platform is the long-established former IRI product LiquidData, recently enhanced with the additions of LiquidAI and a smaller client option, Liquid Data Go. The firm recently completed the acquisitions of Nielsen's Marketing Mix Modelling business, and NCSolutions (NCS), adding them to its Media team.

Store Audit features available immediately will provide businesses with rapid turnaround from data collection to insight delivery, helping to manage shelf execution and space allocation in fast-paced retail environments. The firm says it will soon add advanced AI-enabled image recognition capabilities, which promise to transform physical store images into comprehensive insights within a unified platform, allowing firms to evaluate shelf conditions, measure merchandising compliance, and uncover growth opportunities through the seamless integration of AI-driven analysis with Circana's point-of-sale data.

Patty Altman (pictured), President of Global Solutions, says: 'This innovative solution empowers our clients to make data-driven decisions with unprecedented speed and accuracy, transforming the way they approach shelf management. The integration of AI-driven image recognition with POS data will offer unparalleled visibility, enabling retailers and manufacturers to optimize space utilization and enhance sales performance efficiently.'
