Online narrative and threat monitoring specialist PeakMetrics has closed a $6 million Series A round of funding, with which to further development its product and drive expansion.
PeakMetrics is used by governments, corporates and agencies to monitor and analyse the spread of Internet narratives, providing answers to questions such as Why is this narrative spreading? What is driving it? Is it organic or engineered? And Which audiences are losing trust - and why? By providing this information rapidly, the platform promises business and political leaders the opportunity to change outcomes and to protect reputation, intellectual property and public trust. The firm says that 90% of online content is expected to be synthetically generated this year, further fuelling the growth of manipulated content, coordinated campaigns or single bad actors, which it says can now spread faster than ever.
Co-founder and CEO Nick Loui comments: 'Organizations can no longer afford to operate with partial visibility. PeakMetrics gives leaders the ability to quantify what is spreading, if it's authentic, and what requires action. This funding allows us to accelerate our mission of bringing clarity to a world of distorted information.'
As well as enhancing its software's ability to detect narratives and the depth of its investigations, the funds will help the company lay the groundwork for future innovations, including corporate fact-checking hubs that help organizations establish trusted sources of truth.
The round, which brings the firm's total raised to date to $16.3 million, was led by Moneta Ventures, with follow-on participation from Techstars, Parameter Ventures, VITALIZE Venture Capital, and Gurtin Ventures.
