A day after announcing the sale of its Movies business, which will be rebranded as Rentrak, Comscore has a new CEO. Matt McLaughlin takes up the post with immediate effect, replacing Jon Carpenter who will help with the transition and continue to advise the Board until October.
Carpenter took up the position in October 2021, and has helped to reshape the company, including efforts to streamline its capital structure and operations, strengthen its balance sheet and simplify the business. His seat on the Board will be taken by Stuart Frankel, who brings operating and leadership experience in advertising technology, data analytics and AI, and is currently a Managing Director of 10X CEO, an advisory and coaching firm for CEOs of high-growth venture and PE-backed technology companies. Earlier in his career he co-founded and led Narrative Science, a generative AI company acquired by Salesforce in 2021; and was part of the senior leadership team at ad tech firm DoubleClick, now part of Google.
New CEO McLaughlin brings leadership experience from across the digital advertising and measurement space, including work as COO at DoubleVerify, directing the company's product, engineering and sales operations and managing more than half its employees. He is already a Board member of Comscore and is a significant shareholder. 'Matt brings a unique combination of strategic insight, operational leadership and deep expertise in the digital advertising and measurement ecosystem,' says Chairman David Kline. 'Through his Board service and longstanding investment in the company, he already has a strong understanding of the business, our mission and the opportunities ahead.'
Kline said of the outgoing Chief Exec: 'Jon's impact on this company has been invaluable. He helped drive significant operational, financial and strategic progress across the organization, while also bringing people together around a common purpose. We are deeply grateful for his leadership and dedication to Comscore's success.'
