New Group President and Head of HR for NPD

June 20 2005

The NPD Group, Inc. has announced two new senior appointments. Leon Shapiro, the new Group President, will lead three divisions: NPD Techworld, NPD Funworld, and NPD Music & Movies. Meanwhile, Ken Meyer has joined the company as Global Head of Human Resources, responsible for NPD's 14 offices in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia.

Shapiro has more than 20 years' experience in the technology industry, including 15 years at Gartner, Inc., where he was a key leader in Gartner's growth into an $850m global brand. He is also a Director of The Advisory Board Company, which provides research and analysis to the healthcare industry.

He will initially focus on expanding NPD's wireless tracking offerings, due to roll out this summer. Reporting to him will be Sima Vasa, who will play a key role in the development of NPD Techworld; Luis Delahoz, who will spearhead sales and service for NPD Techworld; and Esther Han, who leads NPD Funworld and oversees NPD Music & Movies.

Meyer comes from executive search firm Korn/Ferry International, where he was a partner. His previous jobs have included Senior VP of Human Resources for Citicorp / Citibank, Pan American World Airways and Viacom International. He is also an adjunct professor at Nyack College and is on the board of directors of the Executive Forum.

NPD President and COO Karyn Schoenbart points to Shapiro's 'demonstrated success in delivering client value' and says Meyer's knowledge and experience will be 'a critical asset as we continue to grow, moving into new industries and locations around the world'.
