Record Year for IT Market Analysts

July 13 2005

Evans Data Corp, US-based provider of IT industry market intelligence, reports sales up 54% in its last fiscal year, including a 'dynamite' last quarter in which sales more than doubled versus the previous year.

Demand increased for all types of service, including syndicated reports, custom quantitative research, focus groups, and consulting, although the company's core activity is in-depth surveys of the global developer population.

The last year has seen Evans introduce several new services including:

  • The Vision Series of focus groups, which provide insight into developers' views on the future of Open Source Software, Wireless, Enterprise computing, and Web Services/SOA.
  • OSS Tools for Small Businesses - a survey of over 500 developers in small / medium businesses.
  • The Small and Medium Business Development Study - a comprehensive survey focused on companies with less than 1,000 employees. The study covers SOA, security, platforms, languages, tools and budgets, and is a companion to the company's Enterprise Development Management Issues report.
Evans states that its inaugural Developer Relations Conference held in March also helped to contribute to the company's growth, and it expects the second conference - due to be held in San Francisco in January - to be twice the size of this year's.

'Not only is our core business becoming much stronger in our traditional market, but we are also seeing deep interest from new clients in sectors such as mobility devices and infrastructure, e-commerce, telecoms, and security. Smart companies are realizing the value of knowing what developers are doing and gaining insight into how to cater to them,' said Janel Garvin, CEO of Evans Data.
