New Director and Government Contracts for IFF Research

July 28 2005

IFF Research has promoted Stacey Charlesworth to Interviewing Services Director. The company, based in London, has recently been commissioned to conduct two large-scale surveys on behalf of the government's Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Department for Education and Skills (DfES).

Charlesworth, who was previously managing the firm's telephone unit, will be responsible for overseeing IFF's 110-booth CATI centre, its field force of face-to-face interviewers, and for sub-contracting interviewing services.

Recent contract wins will ensure the unit is kept busy. The Small Business Service, part of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), has commissioned the company to conduct the Household Survey of Entrepreneurs 2005 - a study that will involve more than 10,000 interviews. It aims to establish the level of entrepreneurship in England, the attitudes of entrepreneurs, and the drivers and barriers to entrepreneurial activity.

The company is also the lead contractor for the 2005 National Employer Skills Survey, commissioned by the DfES and the Learning and Skills Council. The project involves 75,000 telephone interviews with a representative sample of employers across England. It will explore skill gaps, skill needs and training. IFF will also conduct 8,000 follow-up interviews with employers to establish employer expenditure on training.

Tim Britton, Managing Director of IFF, explained how the new appointment will boost the company's ability to manage its new contracts: 'The growth of the business over recent years made it clear that we needed a more senior manager to oversee this critically important part of the business.'

The company is online at www.iffresearch.com .
