NetRatings Settles Patent Infringement Lawsuit

October 27 2005

US Internet measurement specialist Nielsen//NetRatings has settled its lawsuit against Visual Sciences, by entering into a licensing agreement with the company. NetRatings launched the lawsuit earlier this year, alleging infringement of some of its data collection and analysis patents.

Under the settlement, NetRatings has licensed certain patents - relating to the collection, analysis and reporting of information about computer usage and activity - to Visual Sciences.

William Pulver, President and CEO of NetRatings, says the settlement reinforces his company's confidence in its strategy to 'protect the investments we've made in the intellectual property that drives the company's innovative product offering'.

NetRatings is planning to continue its 'patent enforcement program', and currently has patent infringement lawsuits pending against four other companies: Coremetrics, Omniture, SageMetrics, and Sane Solutions.

The Nielsen//NetRatings web site is at www.nielsen-netratings.com.
