Homescan Expansion Completed

December 7 2005

ACNielsen U.S. has this week announced the completion of the major program to expand its Homescan(R) consumer panel. In two years, the panel's size has more than doubled to 125,000 households providing insights and information for the CPG industry.

Along with the expansion in size, the detail available from the panel has been considerably enhanced with new offerings including:

  • Category Management and Retail Shopper Insights products including Channel Views, Shopper Missions and Shopper Trends, plus retailer trade areas for geographic performance comparison
  • New Product Development features including enhanced new product performance tracking, driven by the largest longitudinal purchase panel in the industry; and New Product Alert, providing manufacturers with direct feedback from new product triers and repeat purchasers immediately after purchase
  • Expanded Marketing ROI Measurement tools including Media Facts, linking consumers' shopping and buying behavior with their media habits; and Project Apollo, a joint venture with Arbitron assessing the impact of advertising across a wide array of media platforms via a single-source panel; and
  • Ethnic Marketing services including a total US Hispanic service and the syndicated African American Consumer Facts monitor.
According to Global Panel Services President, Robert Tomei, 'There's never been a greater need to understand the nuances of consumer behavior, with marketers trying to serve ever more narrowly defined consumer segments while at the same time trying to identify the factors that drive behavior among these various segments of population. We are extremely pleased to be able to address those needs with our expanded Homescan consumer panel.'
