ACNielsen Cleared by EC

December 8 2005

VNU today announced that the European Commission has ended its investigation into the contracting and pricing practices of the company's subsidiary ACNielsen, and has found no evidence of wrongdoing.

In March this year, the EC raided ACNielsen's offices, investigating claims by competitor Information Resources, Inc (IRI) that its contract and price policies broke antitrust law. At the time of the raid, VNU said it was confident that its practices complied fully with European law.

After reviewing IRI's complaint and conducting its own inquiry, the Commission has now terminated its investigation.

IRI had previously launched a $650 million antitrust case against ACNielsen, which was dismissed in January by a US Federal District Court.

ACNielsen is online at www.acnielsen.com . IRI's web site is at www.infores.com.
